Camp Counsellors/Volunteers are trained in LGBTQ2S+ allyship. Counsellors/Volunteers (mainly trans and gender queer folks) work to ensure expertise around gender diversity and gender creativity in each space.
Campers will never be asked to reveal their gender, information about their bodies, or to “come out.” Photos taken at camp will not be shared outside of camp without explicit permission given by caregivers on the waiver. Information and stories campers share at camp is confidential unless there are safety concerns.
Camp Dragonfly is bullfrogpowered with 100% green electricity. This means that Bullfrog Power's generators put 100% green power into the grid to match the amount of conventional electricity the event uses, displacing energy from polluting sources. Across Canada, Bullfrog's green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities. For more information on Bullfrog's green energy, visit www.bullfrogpower.com.
Camp celebrates all ways of being family. Polycules, queer parents, single parent families, foster families, adoptive families, parents and caregivers who are late, extended family members... however you make up your chosen family - you and your family are welcome here.
Food and allergies
The camp building strives to be a scent-free environment. Camp will have options for gluten free, vegetarian and vegan campers. Allergies will be accounted for. The kitchen camp uses is not free of gluten or allergens typically, but will be during camp. Questions or information about food can be directed to our caterer, Stump Kitchen!
Names, Pronouns and Identities
Campers will be called by the names and pronouns they choose. They are welcome to change their names or pronouns at any time during camp. Camp is designed with special care for all gender diversity. This is a safer space for you if you are transgender, trans, Two-Spirit, a boy, a girl, gender creative, agender, intersex, non-binary, questioning your gender, genderfluid, or any other gender words you use for yourself. For our older campers, camp is also a place where you can be open about your sexual identity if you wish to share.
Our host and supporter Southminster-Steinhauer United Church is affirming and inclusive of people of all genders and identities. People of all spiritualities, or none, are welcome.
Have we forgotten something? Let us know!
Camp Dragonfly wants to accommodate all campers if possible. Please contact the camp about interpretation and other needs. The building has an elevator and accessible bathrooms. Communication devices can be used. Personal care attendants, support workers, interpreters, and support animals are welcome to join accommodation users.
Bathrooms are not binary spaces. All bathrooms will be for everyone.
Campers are encouraged to wear whatever clothing makes them feel comfortable and joyful in their expression.
Camp welcomes children and their supportive communities (siblings, friends, caregivers, caring adults). We offer time for supportive adults to connect at the end of camp.
